If your idea of “roughing it” comes with a roof and modern conveniences or privacy is at a premium, try one of our rustic cabins. Hidden among the pines and hardwoods of Meramec State Park, the cabins are located throughout the park to satisfy the needs of any number of guests. Each cabin comes equipped with pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot, toaster, towels and linens, air conditioning and heat, full size beds, refrigerator, either a stove top or full stove, and most have a microwave and fireplaces. There are no televisions, telephones or clocks.
In the 1930s, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) to help stop unemployment and bring the nation out of the Great Depression. Young men across the country built structures in state and national parks. Cabins, overlooks, pavilions and roads at Meramec State Park were built during this time. A monument dedicated to the young men of the Civilian Conservation Corp is located in front of the Fireside Park Store & Grill. The entrance-way to the Fireside is dedicated to CCC artifacts and information about the corp.
While retaining their rustic look, the cabins have been renovated to include full kitchens and baths and central heat and air. Cabins are located throughout the park among the pines and hardwoods overlooking Meramec Valley. Bedding, towels, linens, pots and pans and small appliances are included.
In 2012, Missouri State Parks made certain lodging units available to people who want to travel and vacation with their dogs. Most cabins at Meramec State Park are “canine friendly.” There is a fee of $20.00 per dog, per night collected at check-in time. Dog owners are responsible for their dogs and any damage caused by them.
Cabins 5, 9, 10A, 10B, and 11 are not canine friendly. The rest of our cabins are canine friendly.
